In April, Doug, Clayton and I spent a night in Halifax and used our time exploring downtown. We have been to Halifax many times as a family, staying in Dartmouth, Bedford and Bayer’s Lake areas. This trip we stayed at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront.

The Discovery Centre- Halifax, NS
As part of our Halifax weekend getaway in April, we visited the Discovery Centre for the first time in it’s new location. WOW!!
“The Discovery Centre is a not-for-profit registered charitable organization whose mission is to bring STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) to life through fun, interactive learning experiences.” ~ thediscoverycentre.ca
Visiting the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic with kids in Halifax, NS
Visiting the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is one of many educational and fun activities to do with kids in Halifax.
The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is a regular stop for us when visiting Halifax, NS. I can’t count how many times we have visited, and each time we all have a good time reading, watching, playing and exploring.
#DiscoverNBBeaches – Herring Cove Beach
Discover NB Beaches – Herring Cove Beach
Herring Cove Beach is another Fundy National Park beach that we visit yearly. Over the years it has remained a popular beach with access from two trails.

#DiscoverNBBeaches – Point Wolf Beach
One of my favourite spots in Fundy National Park is Point Wolf Beach.
Just before crossing the Point Wolf covered bridge, be sure to stop at the Red Chairs and enjoy the view.

FUN FACT: There are about 60 covered bridges in New Brunswick. This one was built in 1992 and is 29m long.
Day Trips In New Brunswick With Kids
Day Trips In New Brunswick With Kids
For many summers now, we have been doing day trips from our home in Moncton, NB. With two children that are almost 10 years apart in age, we have tried to find adventures that are interesting for both boys. While some day tripping adventures have been the entire family, many have been just myself and the kids, while hubby is working. Keeping this in mind, many of the day trips are doable with one adult and a couple children.
#DiscoverNBBeaches – Tuft’s Point & Long Beach
This beach is such a lovely spot for a relaxing stroll, exploring with the kids, a picnic lunch or just to stop and soak up the fresh sea air.
Discover NB Beaches – Tuft’s Point & Long Beach
The Fundy Trail Pathway extended their car route further along the Fundy coastline to Tuft’s Point (an now, 2018, beyond to Walten Glen Gorge). You enter the park after passing through St. Martin’s NB, and you can read more about the park itself, here in our day tripping feature. The Fundy Trail Parkway is a park that has an entry fee (See rates here)

7 Frugal and Thoughtful Mother’s Day Gifts
7 Frugal and Thoughtful Mother’s Day Gifts
Mother’s day is right around the corner and it is time to plan. I have noticed as my mom entered her senior years, I usually stopped in at a flower shop or picked up something last minute for mother’s day. It’s not that I didn’t love pampering my mom, and appreciate everything she has done for myself and my family, I just find it hard to buy for her.
Inspired Creativity – A Rekindled Passion For Photography
I remember getting up in time for sunrises on the river, or taking impromptu road trips and just stopping anywhere along the way to snap a photograph, it seems like a lifetime ago. When I went to college, my days were spent hiking trails to find the perfect lighting, hours upon hours in dark rooms or the studio, and waiting to see what I captured on film. My, how times and technology have changed.
Tugging At The Heart Strings-My Day At Work of Heart
Tugging at the Heart Strings-my day at Work of Heart
I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Work of Heart event on March 25, 2017. It was a retreat, and a wake-up call, a reminder about living your life’s purpose and a booster shot in the faith in humanity. Most of all, it was a community. A group of people of all ages that came together and shared amazing experiences. I could write for days on each of the speakers that presented that day, and of the blessing that I felt sharing this event with friends, but for now, I will give a brief outline. I imagine I will revisit these topics in future columns, but I really want thank these people who shared a bit of their lives with us.
