Family Winter road trips can be so much fun (when we are able to travel again, planning ahead never hurts!). Not only are many destinations more picturesque in winter, they often offer off-season rates, additional outdoor activities and an opportunity to explore by skiing, snowshoes, sleigh ride and more.
Summer 2020 Road Trip Check List
Road Trips are so much fun and our family has always enjoyed road-tripping year round. Most of our road trips are within our home province of New Brunswick, especially this summer as we explore closer to home during a global pandemic.
New Brunswick Family Day Trips & Destinations
When it comes to family travel, I truly believe in exploring where we are from. Last summer we started a series called #StopToSeeNB, hoping to encourage more people to explore and visit our picturesque and heritage rich province. In 2020, with the province in a state of emergency and our borders closed, we have put together a resource to help you plan some New Brunswick day trips and weekend destinations this summer. This list will be updated and grow as we visit more places.
Our travels will be a little different this summer, with some destinations not opening or having limited services. PLEASE check with each destination before heading out to ensure they are open and what precautions or limitations to service they have in place at this time. You may be required to wear masks, there may be closed areas or limited services.
On a recent weekend trip to Sackville, New Brunswick, we checked out The Boultenhouse Heritage Centre. It is one of Sackville’s oldest surviving homes, containing a museum to showcase the areas rich history. We took a guided tour and learned about shipbuilding in the late 18th century, early Victorian life through artifacts displayed in the parlor, more about domestic life and then the growth in other industries & manufacturing that happened in the region.
Hey everyone! Have you ever stopped to look at what there is around you when planning a night or weekend away? We have started a new blog series called “#StopToSeeNB – Visiting Hometowns In New Brunswick”, to share some of the reasons we love New Brunswick, why we are proud to be from here, and in order to instill a sense of belonging in our children. We are a family of 4, Ruth Ann (me), Doug (my husband), Lorne (16 yrs) and Clayton (6 yrs), and traveling most of the time with our dog Bo. We will highlight the things we saw, where we ate and where we stayed in each place we visit.
New Brunswick has many roadside attractions, hidden gems and unique places to add to your next road trip! We created this resource in hopes that you slow down, take time to explore and stop a while next time you are on the road in New Brunswick. These are short stops, not activities that take hours, but a place to stop, look, have a bite to eat or stretch your legs. Pack a picnic lunch and bring your camera, snap a photo at some of these fun attractions. Feel free to share on social using hashtag #StopToSeeNB so we can see all the fun you have!
A winter vacation can be a wonderful change of scenery for you and your dog. But like any trip, you must plan ahead and be prepared. We love including Bo in our travels and adventures as much as possible. There are so many pet friendly options these days, from accommodations to businesses that will allow you to bring your dog inside for a walk around.
