While stocking up on a great deal is sometimes a strategy I would use, I have to apply some limits.
Unless the item is at an all time low price or on clearance, I can likely buy just a couple to get me through to the next sale. No one “needs” a stockpile of 20 mustard or 40 deodorant. There are expiry dates and space limitations to consider.
TIP: Everything you buy is on a 4-6 week sales cycle. If it is on sale this week, you will see it on sale for roughly the same price in 4 to 6 weeks.
Keeping a price book can help you in determining if a deal is really a great deal. You can save plenty each week based on sales, coupons and apps, without having to turn your house/storage room into a stockpiled space. That being said, a fee of each item you use on a regular basis is absolutely within reason. 4 to 6 deodorant in a house of 4 people will not last long, so keep track of what you have and how long it takes your family to use it. Then “stock up” accordingly to make it through to the next sales cycle.
Happy Savings!
