Day Tripping – Fort Beausejour
Do you like history and exploring historic sites?
Fort Beausejour is one of our favourite day trips in NB. It boasts an historic site to explore, open fields, picnic area and museum. It is a beautiful spot on the top of a ridge near the fundy coastline in Aulac, NB.
We always pack a picnic lunch, kites, sunscreen and sweaters when heading to Fort Beausejour. It gets very windy and can be cold, but if you are prepared, you will enjoy every minute. That being said, we have been there when it is hot as well. Just be prepared for all temperatures when heading there. There are large shelters on the main grounds, especially great when travelling with a group. You can have lunch and host a group session in these out buildings and then explore the site.
We go at least a few times every summer and love to take an afternoon to explore the history of Fort Beausejour. For the little ones, there are costumes, and a scavenger hunt they can fill out as well.
Since Pokemon Go launched, they have become a popular spot for players, having several stops and an gym on site.
Check out their special events listed for Canada Day, Parks Day, New Brunswick Day and Acadian Day. They also have an Online Guided Tour available here.
