Irish Soda Bread

  • 4 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 3/4 Cups Buttermilk


  • Preheat your oven to 400°.
  • Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Make a well in the flour mixture and add buttermilk.
  • Stir to combine. I use my hands once it comes together.
  • Remove from the bowl with floured hands and place on floured surface. Knead 5 or 6 times.
  • Form into a ball and place in a round cake pan (lightly greased, unless non-stick or silicone). Cutting an X in the dough.
  • Place a second pan over top of first making a dome around your dough.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, covered, remove the top pan and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes or until the crust is dark golden brown.
