Sunday Night Live – Biscuit Mix, Brownie Mix and Oatmeal Mixes

Make ahead mixes are fantastic to have on hand. They are prepped from scratch, ready to use and cheaper and healthier than the boxed alternatives.

On November 11th, 2018, my Sunday Night Live Facebook video shared my recipes for Biscuit Mix, Borwnie Mix and Instant Oatmeal Mixes.

Homemade Biscuit Mix

Prep in large batches so you can whip up biscuits for supper in a snap! All you need to add is buttermilk.

  • 10 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Baking Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/4 Cups Vegetable Oil
  1. Combine all ingredients and store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

To Prepare Biscuits

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

  2. Combine 2 1/2 Cups of biscuit mix with 2/3 Cup Butter Milk (or 2/3 cup milk, with 2/3 Tbsp vinegar, let sit 3-4 minutes). 

  3. Divide dough into 12 equal portions and place on greased or parchment lined baking sheet.

  4. Brush with milk or egg wash.

  5. Bake 8-10 minutes until browned.

Brownie Mix

Ingredients For Dry Mix

  • 8 Cups Sugar
  • 6 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 4 Cups Cocoa Powder
  • 4 tsp Salt
  • 4 tsp Baking Powder

Additional Ingredients To Make Up Brownies

  • 2 1/4 Cups Brownie Mix
  • 1/3 Cup Butter, Melted
  • 2 Eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Cup Nuts or Chocolate Chips (Optional)

To make dry mix:

  1. Mix all dry ingredients in first section and store in an airtight container, in a cool, dry place. Use within 3 months.

Making a batch of brownies:

  1. Grease an 8X8 inch pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Combine Brownie mix, butter, eggs and vanilla in a bowl. Stir until well mixed.

  3. place mixture in pan and pat down. At this point you can sprinkle with chocolate or vanilla chips or nuts for texture.

  4. Bake for 30 minutes, until brownies pull away from edges. Remove from oven and let cool.

Instant Oatmeal Packets

so easy to make these breakfast instant oatmeal packets to have on hand. You make them from scratch and control the ingredients you put in them, making them healthier than the store bought version.

Super Seeds Oatmeal (1 serving)

  • 1/2 Cup Instant Oats or Old Fashioned Oats
  • 2 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 2 Tbsp Hemp Hearts
  • 2 Tbsp Flax Meal, ground
  • pinch Salt
  • Sugar to taste (or tsp Maple Syrup)

Orange Cranberry Oatmeal

  • 1/2 Cup Instant Oats or Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1/3 Cup Cranberries, dried
  • 1 tsp Orange Peel, dried & chopped fine
  • pinch Salt
  • Sugar to taste

Assemble Packets:

  1. Simply combine the ingredients into a sealed 1 cup or larger jar or container, and store in a cool, dry place.

Make Oatmeal:

  1. Add 1/2 cup of boiling water to oatmeal mix and let sit 5 minutes. Enjoy
