Make Your Own: Microwave Popcorn Bags

Why not try this frugal alternative, and know exactly what you are eating? It’s super easy and cheap to make. You can add your own seasoning and butter. See below for seasoning combinations.

Make Your Own Microwave Popcorn Bags

→1/3 cup popping corn kernels
→1 brown paper lunch bag

• Place 1/3 cup of corn popping kernels in a brown paper bag.

• Lay flattened out on the counter and roll the top of the bag closed, two 1/2″ foldovers.
• Microwave for 2-4 min (depending on microwave). Listen for popping to slow down, and then stop the microwave.

Toss 16 cups hot popcorn with:


Parmesan Rosemary

  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp finely chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
Herb & Garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 2 grated garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
  • sage (your preference)
  • thyme (your preference)
  • 2 tsp kosher salt

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan, then add garlic, rosemary, and other herbs.
Cook stirring for 1 minute.
Drizzle over hot popcorn.

Toss with 2 teaspoons of kosher salt.
