Homemade Baked Potato Chips
Potato chips are by far my strongest craving. If I need to have a treat or am tempted to indulge, it is salty, deep fried potatoes ll the way!
Ever since I started making my own chips, they have become healthier (not deep fried) and much tastier. You can even make up a big batch and bag portions for quick snacks throughout the week. You want to be sure they are cooked to crispy, to ensure they will last.
Homemade Potato Chips are easy, frugal and much healthier than store bought chips. You can season with many things or just a light sprinkle of salt. My favourite reason for making my own chips is the taste, you can taste that they are potatoes. They are so good, you simply have to try them for yourself.
The chips pictured have sprinkle of Sunset Seasoned Salt, and are lightly sprayed with olive oil (I have a pump sprayer).
Baked 15 min at 400 degrees, flip them and bake for 10 more min.
I used a Mandolin cutter to get them really thin. You can also do them in the microwave with no oil.
Microwave cooking: place on a silicone chip maker or if you have a steamer similar to the green one pictured, it works great too.
Microwave on high for 2 to 3 minutes and check them. Rotate and flip if they are cooking uneven.
Keep a close eye on them so they do not overcook.
Great served as a side with a sandwich or burger.
