Adventures with Star Wars and Minecraft – Clayton’s Week at Snapology Camp

There are so many options out there for summer camps and activities. Most require planning months in advance and committing to a week or two of full days. There are sports-based and outdoor-based camps, and there are activity or interest-based camps.

Then There Is Snapology

When I met with Deji, owner of Snapology Moncton, to learn about the STEM camps he was offering this summer, I was excited and very impressed. Not only are the programs play-based, but they teach Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics skills through fun theme based activities.

This post is sponsored by Snapology Moncton. All opinions and experiences are our own. We partner with businesses that complement our brand and endorse experiences we have personally tried.

Clayton attended a full week of camp in July and here are just a few things they learned during the Minecraft and Star Wars themed activities!

  • Building Strong Structures – engineering skills building light sabers and spaceships
  • Presentation Skills – they learned to present their projects to their peers by explaining their creations.
  • Teamwork – The children worked in pairs and small groups to encourage teamwork, using group planning skills and learning to respect the opinions and ideas of others.
  • Computer Skills – They used ipads to navigate Minecraft and also to create stop motion videos that they presented with title screens, text bubbles, credits, etc.

As a parent, one of the things I loved about this camp was the information sent home so I knew what my child was learning.

Clayton also received a Snapology T-Shirt for being a weekly camper and a Jedi Master Certificate upon completion of the week!

Here is the interview I did with Deji to talk a little more about what Snapology is and why he brought this awesome program to Moncton.

For this summer, being their first summer running, you can try it one day, a half-day, a week of half days or a week of full days. Snapology summer camp is still running and is operating daily out of Resurgo Place for the summer. Watch for Snapology in the schools and elsewhere in the fall. You can also book a birthday party, and Deji is working on more fun ways to incorporate Snapology into our lives!
